HOUSTON - It's been said that the winner of the Region 3 championship does not often win the Texas State 5A title because its already been put through such a grind.

The regional final four was so tough this year that the No. 1 junior in the country, Kelsey Bone of Dulles High School, could not will her team into the championship game. Cy-Fair High School of Cypress, Texas, emerged victorious for the second straight year because it could counter with two sisters, sophomore Chiney Ogwumike and senior Nneka, who both are among the top players in the nation in their class.
