NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - The cardiac kids of late summer have to be Boo Williams who were probably considered the favorites coming in to the tournament and ,despite being undefeated after three games, they've been in some tight games where the outcome was not decided. After their narrow win over the GA/Lina 76ers Sunday morning all point guard and North Carolina commit She'la White could do was smirk, shake her head and say "every game".
BWSL trailed most of the game actually and their trademark defense was just not their usual intense and dominating style. They let the 76ers get comfortable and they started knocking down threes left and right. On several occasions, 2010 guard Erika Judge came up court approached the three-point line without any pressure and let 'er rip.
Boo also fell in to the trap of trying to get the lead back all at once by shooting a bunch of long jumpers themselves. Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, one of the top 2009 prospect in the country got on a little hot streak to make it close but the three point barrage didn't give their advantage inside much of a chance to dominate and the 76ers got out and ran the court which let stand out 2009 guard Nikki Burton get into scoring mode which is not good if you're the opposition.

Ultimately, BWSL ramped up their defense and scored enough to pull away from the fiesty 76ers to remain atop their pool, although lurking tonight is their big showdown with All-Ohio and their star center Ayana Dunning. The winner will be in the driver's seat for first place in the pool and the illustrious Gold Bracket.
One of the teams scaring BWSL and coming up short was North Tartan, which also came up short against All-Ohio while still giving them a huge run for their money. Their bad luck continued Sunday where they took a nice lead early against Cy-Fair Shock but ran out of gas in defending both Chiney and Nneka Ogwumike down the stretch. Early on their top players like Jacki Voigt and Hannah Draxten were making plays and really frustrating Cy-Fair by not letting the game get too fast.
Jenny Gilbertson, Katie Loberg and others did an outstanding job of bodying up the two dominating forwards from Cy-Fair but holding those two at bay lasts only so long and. The game was tied at the half and Cy-Fair would go back and forth with North Tartan for most of the second half but a few key steals by both Ogwumike sisters and a missed layin deflated the come back effort of North Tartan. The good news for North Tartan is they've battled some of the best teams in the country and with some luck and winning their last two games they can turn their 0-3 start into a seat in the Bronze bracket.
The Georgia Metros beat the Alabama RoadRunners, West Coast Elite handled the Michigan Crossovers, the Tennessee Flight beat the Spokane Stars, All-Ohio beat OGDL, the Family found a way to come back and beat the Cal Swish in two overtimes, the Cal Storm finished off the Georgia Elite and Essence beat the Liberty Belles in other action Sunday morning.
